Event Chair, Dr. Debbie L. Sydow, along with over 200 guests, honored the Girl Scout Council of Central New York's 2008 Women of Distinction. Women representing diverse areas of the Central New York community were honored for their roles as leaders who lead by example, encourage others to achieve goals and dreams, and serve the community through personal, professional and volunteer leadership roles…they make the world a better place

2008 Annual Meeting of the Girl Scout Council of Central New York, Inc.
Morning of Stars Celebration
Held Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Carnegie Catering, Driver’s Village

The 2008 Girl Scout Council of Central New York’s Annual Meeting was not all business.  This year, we combined our annual business meeting with a Morning of Stars Celebration, in which we honored Girl Scouts and adult volunteers.  Girl Scouts who earned their Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards (the highest honors in Girl Scouting) were recognized for their achievements, as well as adult volunteers who have actively given outstanding service to Girl Scouting.  Thank you to everyone who participated in the celebration!

Appreciation Pin
The Appreciation Pin is given to volunteers who actively give outstanding service to at least one geographic area or program delivery audience.  A registered Girl Scout adult, this person will have significantly contributed to meeting one or more council goals in membership growth and retention, fund development, or increased community visibility in one geographic area and actively recognized, understands and practices the values of inclusive behavior.

Thanks Badge
The Thanks Badge is given to volunteers who are actively engaged in giving service impacting the Council or the entire Girl Scouting movement.  Recipients are registered Girl Scout adults who have taken a leadership role at the Council level in one or more of these areas: increasing membership growth and retention; increasing the percentage of adult-generated funding in the total council income; increasing innovative program opportunities council-wide; developing broad participation in policy-influencing through the democratic process; ensuring that inclusive behavior is recognized, understood, and practiced at all levels.
