Welcome... Serving over 5,000 girls in Cortland, Onondaga, Oswego and portions of Madison County, GSCCNY helps girls develop character and learn skills for success in the world around them. In partnership with over 2,000 adult volunteers, girls develop leadership, strong values, social conscience and confidence about their self worth and potential. Founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low, Girl Scout membership has grown from 18 members in Savannah Georgia to 3.7 million members throughout the US, and more than 90 countries overseas. ____________________________________________________________ Leadership -With input from girls, the Girl Scout community, and youth development experts, a team of national and council staff spent 2005 determining key elements and outcomes for the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This model was finalized in 2006 and then slated, by the National Board of Directors, for first-stage implementation in fall 2008. Leadership Information Document Alignment - Here is a list of councils involved in the realignment, please visit their websites for more about each council.
